Steve believes that a successful private sector is the backbone of any community. He is committed to policies that cut through red tape, reward innovation and invest in workers to promote a thriving business community. Steve will encourage entrepreneurship by advocating for policies that will continue to keep Minnesota a leading hub of innovation especially in the healthcare, clean energy and agricultural sectors. He will support policies that create economic opportunity for all Minnesotans and build a strong economy where everyone can succeed. 

• Paid Sick and Family Leave: Nearly all workers need to take time away from work at some point to deal with a serious personal or family illness or to care for a new child. Establishing a paid family and medical leave program in Minnesota would allow workers to meet these needs without jeopardizing their economic security.

• Closing the Wage Gap: Steve will propose initiatives to level the playing field for women and people of color. It’s time for equal pay for equal work—regardless of gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity or religion.
